Columbus, OH – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that National Drug Take Back Day will take place Saturday, October 25, offering a safe and anonymous way to dispose of unwanted medications across Central Ohio.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies will assist at several Kroger locations and other designated sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Collection boxes will be available for residents to drop off unused or expired prescription drugs, ointments, and over-the-counter medications. No questions will be asked, and no personal information is required.

The initiative, organized in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), aims to reduce the risk of misuse or accidental ingestion by properly disposing of medications that are no longer needed.

Officials encourage residents to visit DEATakeBack.com to find the nearest collection location. The goal is to make communities safer by keeping unused drugs out of homes, landfills, and waterways.

“Events like this help protect both our families and our environment,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement posted Friday morning.
