Columbia, SC – After a cool start to the weekend, residents across central South Carolina and eastern Georgia can expect a noticeable warmup before potential storms arrive Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, Friday will bring sunny skies with highs in the mid-70s. Temperatures will rise to around 80 degrees on Saturday ahead of an approaching cold front. The warm and mostly clear conditions are expected to shift late Sunday, when a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms could move through the area.
In Columbia, highs are forecast near 80 degrees both Saturday and Sunday, while Augusta is expected to reach 82 degrees Saturday before cooling slightly Sunday. Lows will stay in the low to mid-50s through the weekend.
Forecasters note that while most of the weekend will stay pleasant, residents should remain alert for potential storms late Sunday as the front passes. Rain chances are expected to taper off overnight into Monday.
