Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina residents are set for a warm but comfortable Monday with plenty of sunshine and near-normal late August temperatures. Highs will hover just below 90 degrees across much of the Midlands, offering a dry and manageable day for outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, the state capital is expected to reach 89 degrees this afternoon, with Orangeburg and Augusta both climbing to 90. Skies will stay mostly sunny, with light winds and no rain in the outlook. Sunrise came at 6:53 a.m. in Columbia and Orangeburg, while the sun will set just before 8 p.m.

Drivers can expect good road conditions across I-20, I-26, and I-77, with visibility remaining clear into the evening commute. Outdoor workers and students returning to campus should still plan for hydration as temperatures rise into the afternoon peak.

The calm pattern will hold through early week before humidity begins to creep back midweek, bringing a small chance of pop-up showers later in the week. For now, skies remain quiet, giving South Carolina a brief stretch of late-summer stability.
