Columbia, South Carolina – Warm, summerlike conditions are already in place across the Midlands today, with highs pushing into the mid-80s and isolated thunderstorms developing during the afternoon hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, temperatures will remain well above normal through Friday, with highs consistently in the low to mid-80s across Columbia and nearby areas like Lexington and Sumter. Augusta, Georgia will see similar conditions, with highs reaching the mid-80s each day.

Moisture building across the region will support daily chances for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the late afternoon and early evening hours. While widespread severe weather is not expected, brief downpours and lightning could impact outdoor plans and evening travel along I-20 and I-26.

Rain coverage will remain limited through the workweek, meaning many areas may stay dry despite the daily storm chances. More widespread and beneficial rainfall is expected to hold off until later in the weekend.

Residents should plan for warm, humid afternoons with spotty storms and stay alert for changing conditions during peak heating hours.
