Columbia, SC – Offshore low pressure is expected to bring additional cloud cover to South Carolina on Monday, though rain chances will remain limited until later tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, the system will move northwest overnight into Tuesday, bringing a slight chance of showers across the Pee Dee and northern portions of the state. Forecasters say the rain will be light and scattered, but residents should be prepared for damp conditions during the Tuesday morning commute.

For most of South Carolina, Monday’s weather will feature cloudy skies with mild temperatures. The heaviest rain is expected to remain offshore, and the risk of flooding is considered low at this time.

Drivers in the Columbia metro and up through Florence and Rock Hill may want to allow extra time for travel Tuesday morning in case of wet roads. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the offshore low and provide updates if conditions shift.

This pattern comes as fall approaches, bringing increased chances of unsettled weather across the Carolinas. More widespread rain is not expected until later in the week, according to forecasters.
