Columbia, South Carolina – Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect Sunday as a narrow band of light snow impacts parts of eastern Georgia, with limited impacts expected across much of South Carolina, according to the National Weather Service in Columbia.
In a social media update posted early Sunday, the National Weather Service said up to around 1 inch of snow is possible later this morning across eastern Georgia, where snow probabilities remain highest. Snow chances decrease quickly eastward into South Carolina, where temperatures are expected to limit accumulation.
Probabilistic snowfall graphics shared by the agency show a moderate to high chance of at least 0.1 inches of snow across eastern Georgia, while the likelihood drops significantly across central and eastern South Carolina. The chance of exceeding 1 inch of snow remains highest west of the Savannah River, with low probabilities across most of South Carolina.
Forecasters noted that while a dusting of snow cannot be ruled out in parts of South Carolina, temperatures are generally too warm to support meaningful accumulation. As a result, travel impacts are expected to remain limited east of eastern Georgia.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for eastern Georgia counties through mid-afternoon, while no widespread significant accumulations are anticipated across the Midlands.
The National Weather Service encourages residents to stay aware of changing conditions and monitor local updates as light winter weather moves through the region.
