Columbia County, WI – Three Amish juveniles were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a crash between an Amish buggy and a box truck at the intersection of County Highway SS and Vaughn Road in the Town of Scott, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the 911 call came in around 8:14 a.m. from the driver of the box truck, who reported that the buggy had been struck and several occupants were injured. Emergency personnel from multiple agencies arrived within minutes and began treating the three children at the scene.

According to the initial investigation, the eastbound buggy allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way and entered the path of the northbound box truck on CTH SS. The juveniles were transported by EMS to UW Children’s Hospital in Madison for treatment. Deputies said the horse pulling the buggy was uninjured.

Authorities report that the driver of the box truck is cooperating fully with investigators as the case remains under review. Officials added that the children are expected to make a full recovery.

Responding agencies included Cambria EMS, Rio EMS, Portage EMS, DeForest EMS, Pardeeville Fire, Columbia County Highway Department, Blystones Towing, and the Wisconsin State Patrol. The names of those involved have not been released.
