Portage, WI – As the holiday season approaches, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up for one of its most anticipated annual traditions: the 2025 Shop with a Cop event.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the program pairs local law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and support staff with children from across Columbia County for a morning of holiday shopping. The event gives kids the chance to pick out gifts for their families, enjoy lunch, and meet a special guest — all while creating lasting memories with area officers.
The Shop with a Cop initiative is fully funded by community donations. Organizers say the event not only helps families in need but also strengthens connections between deputies and local youth during the holiday season.
The Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting nominations for children in grades K–8 to participate. Families, schools, and community members who know a child who would benefit from the program are encouraged to reach out.
