Pueblo, CO – A winter weather advisory is in effect for several counties in southern Colorado, with snowfall and gusty winds expected to create hazardous travel conditions through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, snow will begin Tuesday afternoon, bringing accumulations of 2 to 8 inches across affected regions. Higher elevations in the Sangre de Cristo and San Juan Mountains could see up to 8 inches, while lower elevations, including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and the eastern plains, will receive between 2 and 5 inches. Wind gusts up to 50 mph could lead to blowing snow and reduced visibility.

The advisory covers Kiowa, Prowers, Crowley, Otero, Bent, and Fremont counties, with snowfall expected to impact both the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. Roads could become slick, and blowing snow may further reduce visibility, particularly on mountain passes such as Wolf Creek and Cumbres Pass.

Residents are advised to slow down, use caution while driving, and check road conditions by dialing 511. The advisory remains in effect until 2 p.m. Wednesday for most areas, with mountain regions seeing snow taper off by early morning.
