Pueblo, CO – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 5 a.m. Wednesday to 11 p.m. Thursday, as heavy snow is forecasted across southern Colorado’s mountain ranges.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, snowfall totals could reach 6 to 12 inches, with even heavier accumulation possible on the eastern slopes of the San Juan and Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Affected areas include Wolf Creek Pass, La Veta Pass, Cumbres Pass, Blanca Peak, and the Wet Mountains.

Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate, especially over mountain passes, where visibility may be significantly reduced. Motorists should prepare for difficult driving conditions and potential road closures.

Authorities advise travelers to slow down, use caution, and check road conditions by dialing 511 before heading out. Snowfall is expected to taper off by late Thursday night, but lingering impacts could continue into Friday morning.

Residents and visitors in affected areas should ensure they have emergency supplies, including warm clothing, food, and water, in case of travel delays or power outages.
