Grand Junction, CO – A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of Colorado, including the Northwest San Juan Mountains. The National Weather Service predicts snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches from late Friday through Saturday evening, with localized areas seeing higher amounts. Winds may reach 45 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions.
According to the advisory, the affected areas include Telluride, Ouray, and Lake City. Snowfall begins at 11 p.m. Friday and continues until 5 p.m. Saturday. Roadways, especially mountain passes, will likely become slick and dangerous.
Additionally, the Flat Tops, Aspen, Vail, and Snowmass areas face similar conditions starting earlier Friday at 4 p.m. Winds in these regions could gust up to 35 mph, increasing risks for commuters and outdoor enthusiasts.
Residents are urged to drive cautiously and check road conditions by dialing 511. Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility may disrupt travel plans throughout the region.
