Pueblo, CO – A widespread Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of southern and central Colorado beginning Wednesday morning, with the National Weather Service in Pueblo warning of 3 to 10 inches of snow across multiple mountain regions and valleys.

Forecasters say snow will develop through the morning and persist into the night, affecting areas including the Wet Mountains, San Luis Valley, Pikes Peak Region, Sawatch Range, and portions of El Paso, Fremont, Pueblo, and Chaffee Counties. The heaviest accumulations are expected in the Wet Mountains and southern San Juan range, where totals could reach 8 to 10 inches by early Thursday morning.

According to the weather service, the snow will lead to hazardous driving conditions across mountain passes and along I-25, especially near Walsenburg, Trinidad, and Colorado Springs. Roads, bridges, and overpasses may quickly become slick, creating difficulties for both morning and evening commuters.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use caution, and check Colorado’s 511 system for the latest road conditions before traveling. Forecasters also warn that sidewalks, driveways, and steps may become icy, increasing the risk of falls and injuries.

Snow is expected to taper off gradually late Wednesday night into early Thursday, though cold and slick conditions may persist into the morning hours.
