Pueblo, CO – Snow and strong winds are expected to create hazardous conditions across Colorado’s high elevations this weekend, particularly in areas above 11,000 feet. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from Saturday afternoon through 6 a.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service predicts snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with gusts reaching 60 mph. These conditions will significantly impact visibility and road safety on mountain passes, including those in the Sawatch and Mosquito Ranges. Travelers are urged to avoid driving in affected areas during peak storm hours and monitor road conditions through Colorado’s 511 service.

Blowing snow will make travel especially dangerous, reducing visibility and increasing the likelihood of icy patches on steep, winding roads. Residents planning trips through high-altitude regions should carry emergency supplies and prepare for delays or closures.

The storm is expected to intensify late Saturday afternoon, with the heaviest snow falling overnight into early Sunday morning. Wind chills could drop temperatures to dangerous levels, making it critical for anyone venturing outdoors to dress in layers and protect exposed skin.

Looking ahead, forecasters expect a brief break in snowfall on Sunday afternoon, but additional systems could bring more snow to the region early next week. Skiers and snowboarders should monitor resort updates as conditions may vary across elevations.

Stay informed on weather updates by checking local forecasts regularly. Slow down and exercise caution on all mountain routes.
