Pueblo, Colorado – Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for multiple high-elevation areas of southern Colorado, with accumulating snow and blowing snow expected from midday Thursday through Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, snowfall totals of 2 to 5 inches are forecast for the La Garita Mountains above 10,000 feet, including North Pass, while 3 to 7 inches are expected in the Eastern San Juan Mountains and Eastern Sawatch Mountains above 10,000 to 11,000 feet. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains are expected to see the highest totals, with 5 to 10 inches of snow possible across both northern and southern sections.

Winds are forecast to gust between 35 and 40 miles per hour, producing areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility, especially near exposed ridgelines and mountain passes. Snow-covered and icy roads are expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

The advisories are in effect from noon Thursday until 5 p.m. MST Friday. Travel impacts are expected during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commute periods, particularly along mountain passes such as La Veta Pass, Poncha Pass, Wolf Creek Pass, and Cumbres Pass.

Motorists traveling through higher elevations are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. Updated road conditions can be obtained by calling 511 before traveling.
