Pueblo, CO – A powerful winter storm is set to impact the Pikes Peak region, including Teller County, Northern El Paso County, and the Rampart Range, from Monday evening through Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning, cautioning residents about heavy snowfall, strong winds, and whiteout conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm will begin at 5 PM MST Monday and last until 5 PM MST Tuesday, bringing 4 to 9 inches of snow to affected areas. Winds could gust up to 65 mph, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions.

Motorists should expect dangerous driving conditions, especially during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. The combination of heavy snowfall and high winds may lead to blowing and drifting snow, with visibilities dropping below 1/4 mile at times. Officials warn that travel may become treacherous and life-threatening in certain areas.

Residents are urged to prepare for possible road closures and delays. If travel is unavoidable, motorists should carry an emergency kit with essentials such as food, water, and a flashlight.

For the latest road conditions, travelers can dial 511 for updates. Authorities recommend delaying travel if possible and using extreme caution when on the roads.
