Pueblo, CO – A winter storm watch remains in effect for parts of Colorado from Monday afternoon through Tuesday, bringing heavy snow and strong winds that could make travel hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, areas above 11,000 feet in the Western Mosquito Range and East Lake County, including Climax, could see between 2 to 7 inches of snowfall. Wind gusts may reach up to 50 mph, leading to whiteout conditions and significantly reduced visibility. Hazardous road conditions are expected to impact Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
Lower elevations, including Kiowa and Crowley counties, are also under a winter storm watch from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon. These areas may receive 1 to 3 inches of snow, accompanied by wind gusts as high as 65 mph. Blowing snow could lead to slippery roads and reduced visibility, particularly during the Tuesday commute.
Residents are urged to monitor weather updates and exercise caution while traveling. The National Weather Service advises securing outdoor objects and preparing for potential power outages due to strong winds.
