Colorado – The air feels dry and sharp across the Front Range this morning, and the wind already hints at what’s coming. Skies sit partly cloudy over Denver with temperatures near 47 degrees, but the bigger story is the building fire danger.

A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening across the Denver metro and Morgan County. West winds will increase to 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph possible. Relative humidity may fall as low as 12 percent. That combination creates critical fire weather conditions. Any spark could spread quickly.

Avoid outdoor burning and delay yard work that could throw sparks. Secure loose items today before stronger winds arrive. High-profile vehicles along I-25 and I-70 should prepare for crosswinds.

While the plains face fire danger, the mountains prepare for winter impacts. Snow develops early Tuesday in the high country. Moderate to heavy snowfall combines with wind gusts near 50 mph. Travel over the passes may deteriorate quickly by afternoon. Additional snow continues into Wednesday.

Back in Denver, a slight chance of rain or snow showers appears Tuesday with a high near 56 degrees. By Wednesday, colder air settles in with highs near 55 and scattered snow showers possible. Accumulations in the city look light, but brief slick spots could develop if temperatures dip toward freezing after sunset.

Five-Day Outlook for Denver, Colorado:
Tuesday: High 56, windy, slight rain/snow chance.
Wednesday: High 55, chance of snow showers.
Thursday: High 42, slight snow chance.
Friday: High 43, chance of snow.
Saturday: High 45, slight snow chance.
