Pueblo, CO – Southern Colorado will see warmer-than-normal temperatures today before a shift to wetter and cooler weather begins Monday night, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo.
The forecast calls for mostly dry conditions Sunday, with highs reaching the low to mid-80s in Pueblo, La Junta, and Lamar. Areas in the Pikes Peak region may see isolated showers and weak thunderstorms, though gusty outflow winds and lightning are expected to be the primary risks.
According to NWS Pueblo, Monday will trend a few degrees warmer ahead of increased coverage for showers and thunderstorms. La Junta is forecast to top out at 87°F, with Springfield reaching 86°F.
By Tuesday, a significant pattern change is expected, bringing cooler and wetter weather across the region. Highs are projected to fall into the 60s and low 70s for much of southern Colorado, including Colorado Springs, Trinidad, and Walsenburg.
Communities such as Leadville and Woodland Park will see the sharpest drop, with highs only in the 40s and 50s midweek before slowly warming into the 60s by Friday.
NWS Pueblo cautions residents to prepare for unsettled conditions starting Monday evening, with the potential for thunderstorms and shifting temperatures through the middle of the week.
