Grand Junction, CO – High pressure is bringing mostly sunny skies and mild fall weather across western Colorado this week, but changes are on the way by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, temperatures will remain near to slightly above seasonal averages through Thursday, with warm afternoons and clear skies dominating the region.

By late Friday, however, an area of low pressure developing over southern California is expected to shift eastward. Forecasters say this will increase cloud cover and bring chances for showers to southeast Utah and southwest Colorado, particularly across the higher terrain.

While most valleys should stay warm and dry, mountain communities could see brief showers and slightly cooler conditions heading into the weekend. Daytime highs are forecast to remain above normal despite the shift in weather patterns.

The National Weather Service notes that Thursday will likely be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures climbing a few degrees above average before clouds arrive. Residents in mountain areas are advised to prepare for changing conditions by late Friday.

Pleasant fall conditions are expected to return following the weekend system, keeping much of western Colorado mild and mostly sunny heading into early next week.
