Pueblo, CO – A mix of rain and snow showers is expected to begin late Thursday night across Southern Colorado, potentially impacting travel into Friday morning. Gusty winds are also forecasted to create reduced visibility and hazardous conditions over mountain passes, especially Monarch Pass.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin transitioning into snow after 3 a.m. Thursday night, with temperatures dropping to a low of 28°F. While precipitation chances remain at 20%, travelers should prepare for rapidly changing conditions, particularly at higher elevations.

Friday brings mostly sunny skies to Pueblo, with temperatures climbing to 54°F during the day before dipping to 29°F at night. West winds of 10 mph could pick up later, making for a chilly evening. Monarch Pass and other mountain routes could remain hazardous, with light snow accumulation likely and wind gusts reducing visibility.

Looking ahead, Saturday and Sunday will provide a respite with sunshine and daytime highs near 58°F and 63°F, respectively. Breezy conditions are expected by Monday, with northwest gusts reaching up to 35 mph. Those planning holiday travel this weekend should monitor road conditions closely and allow extra time for mountain routes.

Drivers are urged to check the latest road reports and carry emergency supplies when traveling through high elevations. Temperatures will hover below freezing overnight, so icy spots could form. Use caution and stay updated on weather alerts.
