Grand Junction, CO – Western Colorado will see a mix of light mountain snow, rain, and warming temperatures this week before a wetter pattern develops mid- to late week, according to the US National Weather Service Grand Junction.

This morning, rain and snow showers are possible over the northern Colorado mountains, but conditions will dry out later today and remain quiet through Tuesday. Temperatures will warm slightly across valleys and plateaus before the next round of weather arrives midweek.

By Wednesday afternoon, showers will return with widespread rain and isolated storms developing through Thursday. Cooler air will move in behind the system, with light snow possible at higher elevations in the San Juan and Elk Mountains.

The pattern remains unsettled heading into the weekend, with showers likely Saturday and Sunday and the potential for a wet end to October across much of western Colorado.

Drivers in higher terrain should stay alert for slick roads during periods of snow, especially overnight Wednesday and early Thursday.
