Grand Junction, Colorado – Smoke will blanket parts of southern Mesa County again Tuesday, July 29th, as wildfire activity near the Turner Gulch Fire continues to choke visibility and drive down air quality.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, an Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke remains in effect until 9 a.m. Monday, with additional poor conditions expected to persist into Tuesday afternoon, especially near Gateway and along Highway 141. Heavy smoke is expected to settle during the early morning hours and may return after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Residents with heart or lung conditions, older adults, and children should limit outdoor activity. If visibility drops below 5 miles, health risks may be severe. Stay indoors, close windows, and run air filters if available. Anyone near fire zones should consider relocating temporarily if smoke enters the home and causes discomfort.

Tuesday’s forecast for Grand Junction calls for hot, smoky skies with a high near 100°F. Winds from the west at 5 to 10 mph may help disperse some smoke by late afternoon, but conditions could worsen again overnight.
