Denver, CO — Rain and snow showers are forecast to develop across Colorado this afternoon, intensifying into the evening with potentially hazardous conditions in the Front Range and foothill communities.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, banded snow showers are expected to produce up to 6 inches of accumulation in higher elevations, particularly near Estes Park, Evergreen, and Breckenridge. The heaviest snowfall is projected to continue through 6 a.m. Monday. Lower elevations, including areas south of Denver, may experience a rain-snow mix under heavier bands, especially overnight.

Motorists should prepare for snow- and slush-covered roads in mountain areas. Visibility may be reduced during periods of heavier snow, and travel through the I-70 and U.S. 285 corridors could be affected. Light accumulations below one inch are also possible in metro Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.

Today’s conditions will be cooler than average, with temperatures dropping further into the evening. Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts and use caution when traveling.

The NWS advises bringing winter gear for commutes and checking CDOT alerts for updated road conditions. This spring storm marks another reminder of Colorado’s volatile April weather patterns.
