Pueblo, CO – The National Weather Service in Pueblo has extended Winter Weather Advisories across much of Colorado’s mountain ranges through 11 p.m. Sunday night, as heavy snow and strong winds make travel dangerous on high-elevation roads and passes.

Snow totals between 4 and 10 inches are expected in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Pikes Peak, and the Wet Mountains, with gusts up to 35 mph reducing visibility at times. The Eastern San Juan and La Garita Mountains may see an additional 2 to 5 inches, particularly along east- and northeast-facing slopes.

The East Glacier Park and Wet Mountain regions above 10,000 feet are under similar conditions, where slushy and snow-packed roads will challenge drivers through late evening. The NWS advises travelers to slow down, use caution, and check Colorado 511 for the latest mountain pass conditions.

Highway routes like Cumbres Pass, Wolf Creek Pass, and North Pass are expected to be snow covered and slick, especially after sunset. Chain restrictions may be required for some vehicles.
