Colorado Springs, Colorado – Dangerous heat and late-day storms could upend summer plans across southern Colorado Tuesday, with highs near 93°F and thunderstorms expected after 4 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, isolated but intense storms could bring strong winds, heavy rainfall, and lightning to El Paso County — especially near I-25 and Highway 24. Tuesday’s storm risk is highest after 4 p.m. and continues into the evening. While rain totals will remain light for most, pockets of heavier downpours are possible in thunderstorm cells.

Winds will be light from the north, shifting south by evening, and highs could feel even hotter due to the humidity. Travelers on I-25 and Highway 24 should remain alert to rapidly changing conditions. Residents are urged to delay outdoor activities and hydrate frequently. Power disruptions are unlikely, but lightning could cause isolated outages.

By midweek, storm chances return Wednesday afternoon and evening, followed by a stronger wave Thursday. Temps will remain in the upper 80s and low 90s through the week. While Friday offers slightly drier conditions, another round of thunderstorms is expected Saturday afternoon.

Summer heat holds steady into Sunday, with temperatures hovering around 88°F and more late-day storms possible.
