Colorado Weather Alert: Thunderstorms, Hail, and Tornado Risk Until 10 PM

Denver, CO – Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon across the eastern plains, posing significant weather threats. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary hazards, with an isolated tornado also possible.

According to the US National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, the storms will form mainly east of a line extending from Fort Morgan to Simla. The severe weather threat will peak between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. The severe weather outlook indicates a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for several areas, including Julesburg, Limon, and Akron, while Fort Morgan faces a marginal risk (level 1 of 5).

Residents should prepare for hail exceeding 2 inches in diameter, wind gusts over 75 mph, and possible tornadoes. The weather service advises having multiple ways to receive watches and warnings and to remain vigilant throughout the day.
