Grand Junction, CO – Residents across western Colorado should prepare for stormy conditions today as isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop, especially in the higher terrain.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Grand Junction, the main hazards from today’s weather will include gusty winds and frequent lightning. The service posted an updated forecast Saturday morning, warning that the storm activity will be concentrated in mountainous areas, with precipitation chances ranging between 10% to 50% across different regions.
Forecast models also show slightly warmer temperatures throughout today and Sunday, providing some relief from recent cooler patterns. However, residents planning outdoor activities are encouraged to remain alert for quickly changing weather, particularly in elevated areas where storm formation is more likely.
Lightning safety and wind advisories remain in effect throughout the day, and travelers are urged to monitor road conditions, especially near mountain passes and highways like Interstate 70, which may experience sudden visibility reductions due to storms.
The weather pattern is expected to shift by early next week, with drier and more stable conditions anticipated. Updates will continue to be shared by the Grand Junction Weather Office as new data becomes available.
