Denver, Colo. – Scattered thunderstorms are expected to move across northeast and north-central Colorado Saturday afternoon, bringing gusty winds and a risk for small hail. The National Weather Service in Boulder said storms will first develop in the mountains before sliding into the Front Range and eastern plains.

According to the weather service, the biggest concern will be strong outflow winds, with gusts between 40 and 50 mph possible. Forecasters noted that while hail cannot be ruled out, storms are expected to remain below severe levels. Travel could be briefly impacted by reduced visibility and sudden wind shifts on highways including I-25 and I-70.

Drier air moves in Sunday, with storm chances decreasing through midweek. Temperatures will climb steadily, peaking in the mid to upper 90s by Wednesday. Utility crews are urging residents to limit afternoon energy use during peak heat hours as air conditioners strain the grid.

Looking ahead, forecasters suggest a return to unsettled weather by next weekend, with ensembles hinting at increased moisture and renewed storm chances.
