Pueblo, Colorado – Cooler air settled across southern Colorado on Thursday as showers and thunderstorms began to build—kicking off a prolonged stretch of unsettled weather expected to last into next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a cold front pushed through Wednesday night, keeping temperatures near normal while triggering isolated storms this afternoon, especially along the mountains and the southern I-25 corridor. Widespread showers and storms are expected Friday through Sunday, primarily near and over the mountains, with temperatures climbing into the 60s and 70s across most cities.

By Monday, a blocking pattern may trap moisture over the region, raising the threat of excessive rainfall and severe thunderstorms across the eastern plains, including areas like La Junta, Lamar, and Springfield. All modes of severe weather—hail, wind, and isolated tornadoes—are possible.

Drivers along I-25 and Highway 50 should plan for potential delays and poor visibility. Residents should secure outdoor items, check sump pumps, and monitor alerts. With rainfall chances increasing daily, flash flooding could become a concern in vulnerable areas.

Weather warnings are likely to continue into next week as the pattern persists.
