Colorado Springs, Colo. – A pattern of scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds could disrupt weekend plans across southern Colorado, with the most active weather likely by Sunday afternoon and again Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, isolated storms may begin as early as Saturday afternoon, with a 10 percent chance of rain and thunder developing after 3 p.m. near Colorado Springs. The risk increases Sunday into Monday, when a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected, along with wind gusts up to 35 mph.
Saturday will bring highs in the mid-70s with breezy south winds up to 20 mph in El Paso and Teller counties. Sunday’s storm activity may target areas south of Colorado Springs, including Fountain and Pueblo, with unsettled weather continuing into the start of the workweek.
Drivers should remain alert for sudden wind shifts and low visibility during heavier bursts of rain. NWS advises securing outdoor items and avoiding open areas during any lightning activity.
Storm chances continue through Tuesday night, with clearer skies and calmer winds expected by Wednesday. Residents are urged to monitor updates from local forecast offices and prepare for changing conditions.
