Colorado – Cold air clings to the Front Range this morning as headlights cut through thin clouds above quiet streets. In the mountains west of Denver, light snow begins to dust higher elevations, hinting at changing travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, light snow moves into the mountains late today and continues into Thursday morning. Totals of one to three inches are possible along and north of the I-70 mountain corridor, creating slick roads through high passes and tunnel approaches.

In Denver and across the urban corridor, no hazardous weather is expected today. Skies stay partly sunny, and afternoon temperatures climb into the low 50s. Still, early-morning cold lingers, with lows near 20 allowing patchy slick spots on untreated roads and bridges.

Travelers heading west toward Summit, Grand, or Jackson counties should plan for slower speeds tonight and early Thursday. Even light snow can quickly coat mountain roads, especially where temperatures remain below freezing.

By Thursday afternoon, snow tapers off, and a quieter pattern settles in. Sunshine returns across eastern Colorado, and highs near 50 persist through Friday. The weekend looks even milder, with Denver reaching the mid-50s under mostly sunny skies.

This calm stretch aligns with a broader warming trend across the central Rockies, while heavier winter weather stays focused farther north and east. Longer-range outlooks suggest precipitation chances remain limited into early February, with temperatures trending above normal.

For now, winter still holds firm in the high country. Drivers should pack extra layers, allow more travel time on I-70, and stay alert for sudden changes in visibility tonight.
