Colorado Weather Alert: Strong Winds and Snow Possible in Higher Elevations This Week

Grand Junction, CO – Residents in western Colorado should prepare for gusty winds and potential snow as another weather system moves through. While lower elevations will remain dry, the mountains could see accumulating snow, affecting travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Junction, a weak storm will move in Tuesday, bringing a few inches of snow to the Park Range. Winds will also pick up, with gusts of 25 to 35 mph in higher elevations. Lower valleys may experience breezy conditions but are expected to stay dry.

Five-Day Forecast:

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and windy. High of 68°F. Gusts up to 20 mph in some areas.

Wednesday: Cooler and sunny, with a high near 54°F. Winds from the northwest at 5-10 mph.

Thursday: Sunny and slightly warmer, reaching 59°F. Winds remain light.

Friday: Mostly sunny, high of 63°F. Clear skies overnight.

Saturday: Another sunny day, with highs in the mid-60s.

With dry conditions dominating much of the week, the next chance of precipitation arrives late Sunday into Monday. Those in the mountains should remain cautious of wind-driven snow. Drivers on mountain passes should check road conditions before traveling.
