Colorado Springs, Colorado – Strong spring storms are set to roll through southern Colorado this week, bringing hail, lightning, and dangerous wind gusts to the Colorado Springs area by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, thunderstorms could fire up each afternoon beginning Monday, with stronger storms expected to develop over the Plains by Wednesday and Thursday. Winds may gust up to 60 mph, with hail up to one inch in diameter possible. Storms may reach the Palmer Divide and areas east of I-25 by Tuesday afternoon.

Conditions will stay mostly dry Monday, but by Tuesday, storms begin a prolonged stretch of unsettled weather. Patchy fog will linger in the San Luis Valley through Monday morning, while dry lightning and elevated fire conditions are possible across the Central Mountains Monday afternoon.
