Pueblo, Colorado – Afternoon and evening storms could bring flash flooding, hail, and damaging winds to southern Colorado Thursday, as temperatures dip below seasonal averages.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, strong to severe storms are expected across the region beginning Thursday afternoon and lasting into the evening hours. The most intense cells may produce wind gusts up to 60 mph and small hail, with localized downpours triggering flash flood concerns—particularly near burn scars and low-lying areas.

Communities including Pueblo, La Junta, Trinidad, and Colorado Springs sit in the path of Thursday’s highest storm threat. Residents are urged to stay alert for rapidly changing weather and avoid flood-prone roadways. Highs will range from the upper 60s in mountain areas to the low 80s on the plains, with noticeably cooler conditions than earlier this week.

The risk zone extends from Alamosa and Walsenburg northeast toward Limon and Burlington, with elevated rainfall probabilities across much of the southeastern quadrant of the state. Storms are expected to redevelop quickly after midday, increasing the likelihood of back-to-back cells.

Additional alerts or flood advisories may be issued Thursday morning. Drivers and outdoor workers should monitor local forecasts and delay travel if severe weather develops.
