Grand Junction, CO – Western Colorado will see warmer-than-normal temperatures today, but showers and storms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, mainly north of the Interstate 70 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, precipitation may continue overnight as an upper-level trough pushes through the region. Highs on Sunday will reach 87 degrees in Moab, 84 in Grand Junction, 79 in Durango, and 71 in Steamboat Springs, with cooler readings of 69 in Ouray.

The weather service said today’s conditions will shift at the start of the week. Temperatures will drop closer to seasonal averages on Monday and dip even lower by Tuesday, bringing a noticeable change across much of western Colorado.

Drivers and residents in areas north of I-70, including Steamboat Springs and Ouray, should remain alert for developing storms later today. Brief heavy rain and lightning are possible in these areas.

The unsettled weather may affect evening travel plans and outdoor activities. Officials advise monitoring updated forecasts through the start of the week.
