Colorado residents, especially in the Denver metro area, should brace for a significant shift in weather conditions this week. Snowfall is expected to accumulate across the Front Range Urban Corridor through Wednesday, with light snow in the Denver area potentially disrupting morning commutes. A cold front is bringing chilly air across the region, prompting a freeze watch from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Denver/Boulder, temperatures are predicted to dip to between 22°F and 28°F overnight on Wednesday, putting sensitive vegetation and outdoor plumbing at risk. Areas including Fort Collins, Boulder, and Denver’s western suburbs should take steps now to protect vulnerable plants and ensure pipes are insulated. The freeze watch, effective from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 9 a.m. Thursday, warns of frost and freeze conditions that could damage exposed plumbing and endanger any remaining garden plants.

Residents can expect temperatures to drop sharply from highs in the 60s today to lows below freezing by midweek. Snow is anticipated to begin overnight Tuesday, continuing into Wednesday morning, with a possible accumulation of up to one inch. Road conditions may be slick, particularly on elevated highways like Interstate 70 and areas approaching the mountain corridors. Commuters should exercise caution and consider preparing for delays.

Looking further into the week, temperatures will stabilize slightly on Thursday, reaching highs in the 50s, with clear skies. By Friday, sunny conditions are forecast with highs around 65°F, offering a brief respite before cooler temperatures return on the weekend.
