Denver, Colo. – Colorado residents should brace for another round of strong storms Sunday afternoon as heavy rain and hail target the Front Range. Travel on I-25 and I-70 could be slowed by reduced visibility and localized flooding, especially during the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, scattered storms will intensify Sunday after 3 p.m., bringing downpours, gusty winds, and large hail. Storms are expected to peak into the evening, with the Palmer Divide and east-central plains at highest risk for severe weather. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads and secure outdoor items ahead of the storms.

Saturday’s unsettled skies were only the beginning of an active stretch. Forecasters say the pattern will continue through much of next week, with repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms. The strongest storms may trigger flash flooding in low-lying areas and near burn scars.

Denver will reach a high of 81 degrees Sunday under partly sunny skies before storms move in. Showers will linger into Sunday night, followed by widespread rainfall Monday with storm chances climbing to 80%. Flooding potential increases as the week goes on.

Residents should monitor alerts closely and prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Outdoor plans may need to be adjusted each day through midweek.
