Denver, Colorado – A line of severe thunderstorms is expected to sweep across northeast and north central Colorado this afternoon and evening, threatening areas from Boulder to the eastern plains with large hail, heavy downpours, and damaging wind gusts topping 70 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, scattered storms will form over the mountains before shifting east toward the Front Range urban corridor. These storms could become severe, with some producing hail up to 2 inches in diameter and wind gusts over 50 mph. The strongest activity is expected late Friday into the early evening, particularly across Denver, Fort Collins, Greeley, and surrounding areas.

Localized flash flooding remains a concern, though the fast movement of storms should help minimize prolonged rainfall in any one area. Residents in low-lying zones and near recent burn scars should stay alert for rapidly changing conditions.

By Saturday, storm chances will taper off as drier air settles over the region. Temperatures will return to seasonal levels before climbing well above normal early next week, with highs approaching the upper 90s by Tuesday.

Hazardous weather warnings remain in effect through Friday evening. Additional advisories may be issued depending on storm development.
