Denver, CO — Colorado faces critical fire danger today as spring weather brings strong winds and low humidity across the I-25 corridor and surrounding plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. MDT Saturday, impacting Denver, Jefferson, Boulder, and Weld Counties. Winds from the west will increase to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, and humidity dropping to 13%. These conditions will likely contribute to rapid fire spread, especially along I-25 and the eastern plains.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning or any activity that could spark flames. Even minor ignition sources can lead to fast-moving wildfires under today’s extreme fire weather conditions.

Sunday brings a shift to mostly sunny skies with a high near 62°F and lighter breezes from the east. Gusts may still reach 24 mph, but fire weather concerns will ease as humidity levels rise.

Looking ahead, Monday through Thursday promises a stretch of mild spring conditions across the Denver metro. Expect highs from 72°F on Monday to 80°F by Thursday, with clear skies and calmer winds. Overnight lows will remain in the low to mid-40s.

This week’s forecast marks a typical spring transition in Colorado: warm days, cool nights, and shifting wind patterns. Stay weather-aware today, especially if traveling or recreating outdoors.
