Pueblo, CO – Unseasonably warm temperatures are gripping Colorado on Thursday, with records likely to be tied or broken across the state, particularly in Pueblo, Grand Junction, and southeastern regions.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, Pueblo is expected to reach 85°F today, potentially breaking the previous March 27 record of 85°F set in 1988. Colorado Springs could hit 76°F, tying its 1988 record, while Alamosa may surpass its 2022 high of 73°F.
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction reports that western cities like Moab (84°F), Grand Junction (82°F), and Durango (73°F) will experience temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above normal. The heat will persist through Thursday, followed by a cooling trend this weekend.
Isolated thunderstorms are also possible over the mountains and far southeast plains, bringing gusty winds up to 50 mph, lightning, and brief showers.
Drivers should remain alert for sudden weather changes in mountain passes. Residents are advised to limit strenuous outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and monitor weather updates.
This warming trend is notably early for late March, with statewide highs resembling mid-May averages. Temperatures are expected to return to seasonal norms by Saturday.
