Pueblo, Colorado – Residents across eastern Colorado, particularly along and east of the I-25 corridor, should prepare for strong to severe thunderstorms developing this afternoon into the evening hours. The primary concern is damaging wind gusts that could reach up to 60 mph, though hail up to 1 inch in diameter remains a possibility with more organized storms.

According to the US National Weather Service Pueblo Colorado, the area of greatest concern for these storms stretches from this afternoon through the evening. While strong winds are the most likely hazard, there’s also a medium confidence level for hail and a lower but present risk of tornadoes and flooding.

Cities like Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and areas east toward Limon and La Junta are most susceptible to these severe conditions. Gusty winds could lead to downed tree limbs and power outages. Additionally, fire danger remains high for western portions of the area, especially along the Continental Divide and across the San Luis Valley, where winds of 25-35 mph and low humidity are expected. Residents should exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning.

Monitor local weather alerts and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Secure loose outdoor objects and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. These warnings remain in effect through Thursday evening.
