Pueblo, Colorado – A stretch of mild and dry weather is settling in across southern Colorado this week, bringing above-normal temperatures and quiet conditions for most communities east of the Continental Divide.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, daytime highs across the Plains are expected to rise into the 50s and 60s from Wednesday through Saturday, following slightly cooler conditions today. Cities including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Canon City, La Junta, and Trinidad are forecast to see some of the warmest readings of the week.

On Tuesday, highs range from the upper 40s to mid-50s, with cooler temperatures lingering across the higher elevations and mountain valleys. A gradual warming trend will take hold Wednesday, with highs climbing into the low to mid-60s across portions of the southeastern Plains.

Forecasters say dry weather will prevail through Saturday, providing favorable travel and outdoor conditions. Winds are expected to remain generally light, and no widespread precipitation is anticipated for lower elevations.

The only exception will be along the Continental Divide, where scattered snow showers are possible Thursday into Friday morning. The National Weather Service notes that snow accumulations should remain minor, primarily affecting higher mountain passes and peaks, with little to no impact expected for the Plains.

Overnight lows through the week will range from the teens and 20s in mountain valleys to the 20s and 30s across the Plains, allowing for chilly mornings despite mild afternoons.

While the pattern is quiet, residents are reminded that temperature swings between morning and afternoon may be significant, especially at higher elevations. Motorists traveling over mountain passes later this week should remain alert for brief snow showers and changing road conditions.

Overall, the extended forecast favors stable, dry weather into the start of the new year, with no major hazards expected. The National Weather Service encourages residents to stay updated as conditions evolve, especially for mountain travel.
