Colorado’s Front Range is already feeling dry, restless winds sweeping across brown grass and open fields this morning. By midday, those gusts will strengthen, and fire danger will spike quickly across the Denver metro.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 5 p.m. for Denver, Boulder, Jefferson, Larimer and surrounding counties below 6,000 feet. Southwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching 35 mph. Isolated channels could see gusts near 45 mph. Relative humidity may drop as low as 11 percent. That combination creates explosive fire growth potential.

High temperatures climb to around 70 degrees this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. The warmth may feel like early spring, but it comes with risk. Avoid outdoor burning. Secure trailer chains. Postpone yard work that creates sparks. One ignition could spread rapidly across open space near I-25, C-470 and Highway 36.

By tonight, winds ease and temperatures fall to the low 40s. Midweek brings change. A slight chance of rain develops Wednesday, with increasing clouds and wind. By Wednesday night, colder air moves in. Rain may mix with snow as lows dip near 36 degrees. While little accumulation is expected, slick spots could form early Thursday if moisture lingers. Flash freezing can occur this time of year as daytime melt refreezes before sunrise.

Thursday stays breezy with highs in the mid-60s. Sunshine returns Friday and Saturday with upper 60s and calmer weather. Early next week trends milder again, reinforcing a broader 6–10 day pattern favoring above-normal temperatures and growing spring warmth across Colorado.

Five Day Outlook for Denver, Colorado:
Today: Mostly sunny and breezy, high 70.
Wednesday: Slight chance of rain, high 70.
Thursday: Sunny and breezy, high 64.
Friday: Mostly sunny, high 67.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, high 68.
