Pueblo, Colorado – Near-record heat and dangerously dry conditions are combining to create a critical fire weather threat across southern Colorado through Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80s to near 90°F across south central and southeast Colorado, including Pueblo, Canon City, and La Junta. At the same time, very low humidity and dry fuels will create conditions where any fire could ignite and spread rapidly.

Gusty winds and ongoing drought conditions are further increasing the risks, especially along key corridors like I-25 and Highway 50. Even a small spark—from equipment, vehicles, or outdoor burning—could quickly escalate into a fast-moving wildfire.

By Tuesday and into midweek, a shift in the pattern will bring cooler temperatures and more unsettled weather, reducing fire risk but introducing chances for precipitation across the region.

Residents should avoid outdoor burning and use extreme caution with anything that could produce sparks. Fire خطر remains elevated through Monday evening, with additional advisories possible as conditions evolve.
