Pueblo, Colo. – Strong wind gusts and a chance for isolated severe storms could impact southeastern Colorado this afternoon, especially near the Kansas border, as a mild and breezy Saturday unfolds across the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, scattered afternoon thunderstorms are expected across the Pikes Peak region, the southern mountains, and the far southeast plains. One or two storms could turn briefly severe near the state line, with gusts up to 60 mph and hail reaching quarter size.

Communities including Lamar, Springfield, and La Junta may experience brief but intense storm activity between 2 and 6 p.m. Meanwhile, areas like Colorado Springs and Canon City will see breezy, mild conditions with scattered rain chances. Drivers should watch for sudden reduced visibility and avoid travel during active cells. Highs today range from the 50s in the mountains to near 80 on the plains.

Sunday brings warmer conditions and higher chances for mountain showers, with light snow possible above 12,000 feet. A stronger system arrives Monday into Tuesday, bringing broader rain chances and cooler air.

More updates are expected Sunday morning as the next front approaches.
