Pueblo, CO – The National Weather Service in Pueblo is warning residents across south-central and southeastern Colorado of elevated fire danger on Monday, as a passing storm system brings strong winds and very dry air to the region.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from noon to 6 PM Monday (Oct. 27) for portions of the I-25 corridor, including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Walsenburg, where gusts up to 45 mph and low humidity levels could quickly spread any fires that start.

Forecast Highlights for Monday:

  • Plains: Partly cloudy and windy, highs 68–75°F
  • Mountain Valleys: Mostly sunny and breezy, highs 58–63°F
  • Mountains: Mostly sunny, highs 36–61°F
  • Precipitation: None expected

Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning, discard cigarettes properly, and secure trailer chains to prevent sparks. Even small fires could spread rapidly under these conditions.

Conditions will remain breezy into Tuesday, though humidity levels are expected to improve slightly.
