Denver, Colo. – Colorado drivers face a challenging Tuesday as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and even mountain snow complicate travel across the state. Morning commuters on I-70 and I-25 should prepare for wet pavement, gusty winds, and reduced visibility as storms sweep through.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a cold front will linger through Tuesday, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms. Snow levels may drop near 9,000 feet, affecting mountain passes like Berthoud and Loveland. Strong winds up to 25 mph and localized hail remain possible, particularly along the Front Range.

The weather hazards extend across north-central Colorado, from Larimer County down through Douglas and Elbert. Jefferson and Boulder counties could see quick bursts of heavy rain, raising concerns about slick roadways and minor flooding. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and avoid high mountain travel until conditions improve.

Relief arrives Wednesday as skies begin to clear and temperatures rebound into the upper 60s. By Thursday, sunshine returns with highs pushing into the upper 70s. The first week of fall will then bring a stretch of dry, warmer weather into the weekend.
