Denver, Colorado – Severe storms are expected to erupt across eastern Colorado this afternoon, with threats of large hail, damaging winds, and even an isolated tornado stretching from the I-25 corridor to the plains until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, thunderstorms will initiate along I-25 between 1–5 p.m. before intensifying and moving east. Areas including Denver, Castle Rock, Limon, and Fort Morgan face the highest potential for severe hail larger than golf balls and wind gusts over 60 mph.

Storm Prediction Center maps show a slight risk for severe weather across the Front Range and eastern plains, with Longmont, Greeley, and Colorado Springs also in the impact zone. Communities along I-70 and I-76 should prepare for rapidly changing conditions, especially between 3–9 p.m. Hail is the primary concern, but brief tornadoes remain possible.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware this evening. Move vehicles indoors, avoid outdoor activities, and secure loose items. Have multiple ways to receive alerts, and be ready to seek shelter if warnings are issued.

Severe weather threats remain in place through tonight, with more storm chances returning later this week.
