Pueblo, CO – Residents in southern Colorado are waking up to chilly conditions as a Frost Advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. Sunday, with another advisory already issued for early Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, near-freezing temperatures are expected across the San Luis Valley from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. both Sunday and Monday. Temperatures between 33 and 36 degrees Fahrenheit, combined with clear skies and light winds, are likely to promote frost formation.

The advisory warns that sensitive outdoor plants left unprotected could be damaged or killed by the cold. Residents are urged to take precautions, including covering plants or bringing them inside overnight.

Weather maps show the coldest conditions concentrated in the San Luis Valley, with low temperatures forecast to dip into the mid-20s in some areas. Communities including Alamosa, Saguache, and Center may experience the most significant frost impacts.

The NWS recommends that gardeners and agricultural workers monitor conditions closely, as frost can be especially harmful during the growing season. Additional advisories may be issued if temperatures continue to trend lower into the week.

This marks one of the first widespread frost events of the season for southern Colorado, signaling an early transition into fall-like conditions.
