COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Areas of fog and a few rumbles of thunder could make for tricky travel across central and southern Colorado late Sunday into early Monday, especially over the higher terrain and far southeast plains. Drivers in the Pikes Peak and Monument Hill regions should be alert for low visibility overnight as clouds thicken and humidity rises.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, isolated thunderstorms may develop over the southeast plains late Sunday, bringing lightning and brief heavy rain. Fog is expected to expand Monday night into Tuesday morning, particularly across the Pikes Peak region and the Continental Divide.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely to return to the mountains later in the week, but most of Colorado can expect a shift to dry and warmer conditions beginning Tuesday. Sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees are expected by midweek.

Residents are urged to use caution on mountain passes and early morning commutes where fog may limit visibility. No spotter activation is expected tonight.
